ABOUT COMPETITION:
In an era where rapid technological advancements and evolving societal shifts consistently challenge the traditional foundations of law, the ability to think clearly, reason deeply, and write judiciously has never been more essential. Contemporary courts do more than merely adjudicate commercial and technical disputes—they actively preserve public trust, safeguard constitutional values, and translate complex legal anomalies into accessible justice.At the heart of this transformative process lies the judgment: a definitive document that reflects not only rigorous legal acumen, but also structural fairness, flawless logic, and a profound awareness of societal impact.The Online National Judgment Writing Competition, 2026, jointly organized by Law Audience Journal and Joint Jurist Journal, is conceived to identify and nurture these precise judicial skills among the next generation of legal minds. This competition challenges participants to step into the shoes of a judicial officer, analyze complex multi-layered facts, separate substance from rhetoric, and balance conflicting equity parameters to deliver a reasoned, legally sound masterwork.
ABOUT LAW AUDIENCE®:
Law Audience® is an online legal platform and a registered trademark under class 41 which is aimed at spreading the online legal education and other opportunities related to the field of law among the legal audience as much as possible. It was introduced on the 25th of June 2018. It is an independent project, started by its founder and does not receive any funding from any person or organisation or body or government as the case maybe. It is a ‘Dream Project’ of Mr. Varun Kumar (Founder-CEO-Publishing Editor-Publisher & Owner). It is a Sole Proprietorship of Mr. Varun Kumar, S/o Shri. Lehri Singh Jaswal, S/o Late Shri. Joint Jurist Journal (JJJ) is an online legal platform and a national publication which is aimed at spreading online legal education, bridging the gap between academic research and litigation expertise among the legal audience. It was introduced in early 2026. It is an independent project, started by its founder and does not receive any funding from any person or organisation or body or government as the case maybe. It is a ‘Dream Project’ of Mr. Suraj Shandil (Founder-CEO-Editor-in-Chief & Owner). It is a Sole Proprietorship of Mr. Suraj Shandil, Advocate, High Court of Himachal Pradesh.We operate on a Double-Blind Peer-Review model, ensuring that every published work meets the highest standards of original scholarship, zero plagiarism, and academic integrity. Our platform is dedicated to providing an open-access environment for legal professionals, scholars, and students to contribute to the evolving legal discourse.
ABOUT VARUN KUMAR:
Mr. Varun Kumar is the Founder-CEO-Publishing Editor-Publisher & Owner, Law Audience Journal (e-ISSN: 2581-6705).He has pursued his five-years’ integrated law graduation, i.e., (B.A.LL.B (Hons)), from Himcapes’ College of Law (Badhera), District. Una, Himachal Pradesh, India, (affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India), with “First Class With Distinction”. He did his schooling at National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), i.e., Secondary & Senior Secondary Education. He has also done one year diploma in “Computer Applications”. Currently he is pursuing LL.M in Corporate & Commercial Laws, from University Institute of Legal Studies, Chandigarh University.
ABOUT SURAJ SHANDIL:
Advocate Suraj Shandil is a highly motivated and dynamic first-generation legal professional actively practicing before the High Court of Himachal Pradesh and the District Courts at Shimla. As a registered member of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association, he specializes in contemporary legal domains including Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Cyber Law, and the Commercial Courts Act. Academically accomplished, he holds a B.A. LL.B. degree from Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) and an LL.M. in IPR from Chandigarh University. Merging his litigation expertise with legal scholarship, he is the visionary Founder, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief of the Joint Jurist Journal, a digital platform dedicated to bridging the critical gap between academic research and practical courtroom jurisprudence. Driven by professional integrity, he maintains high academic standards through strict anti-plagiarism and double-blind peer-review policies, while actively mentoring the next generation of law students and researchers.
ELIGIBILITY:
1)It Shall Be an Online event.
2)At Present Students/Participants Must Be Pursuing 3-years’ LL.B Course or 5-years’ LL.B Course such as B.A.LL.B, B.Com.LL.B and B.B.A.LL.B etc. or 6-years LL.B Course or pursuing LL.M
3)In One Team, Not More Than 2 Participants Are Allowed. But, However, Participants May Seek Individual Or Single Participation.
4)In One Team, Participants From Different & Same Universities Or Schools Or Colleges Are Allowed.
5)Students are required to upload their ID cards on the registration form such as library card, identity card or any ID issued by your college/university, if not issued then submit a letter from your department’s head stating that you’re a student at their college/university.
6)Any Law College or Law University can send any number of entries. There is no restriction on the number of entries from any college or university.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
1.) The Registration Fee is 799 RS for an Individual/Single Registration & 1000 RS for a Team Registration.
2.) Mode of Payment:
i)Scan QR Code.
3.) The participants must submit the duly filled Registration Form via Google Form after paying the registration fee(s) and attach the screenshot of the payment while filling up the Registration Form.
4.) An acknowledgement will be auto generated after filling up the Registration Form. You’ll receive a copy of your duly filled Registration Form. Check your email inbox including the Spam Folder. Link to join the WhatsApp Group of the event will also be generated.
5) Registration Fees is not refundable. It is refundable only if the event is cancelled by the organizers.

FORMAT OF THE JUDGMENT:
1.) A cover page stating the name of the competition, the name of your Institution and the names of student authors.
- The Judgment shall begin on the next page. The first page of Judgment must contain Team Code, Name of the Court, Title, Number of the Case, Date of Delivery of Judgment, Nature of the Case(s) (Civil/Criminal/Writ).
- Admissibility/Maintainability of Petitions/Suits/Appeal.
- History and Procedural History of the Petition/Suit/Appeal.
- Issues and Points for Determination.
- Framing Specific Questions for determination.
- Reference to Precedents, Other Sources (both authoritative and persuasive).
- Decision on issues framed or points formulated or Decretal /Operative Part.
THE JUDGMENT MAY BE SUBMITTED AS
FOLLOWS:
- Word limit – 5000 words (including foot notes)
- Format – MSWord
- Font – Times New Roman
- Font size- 12 for text, 10 for footnotes
- Page numbers – bottom center
- Line Spacing- 1.5 for text and 1.0 for footnotes
- Alignment- Justified
- Margin- One inch each side
- The citation methodology to be followed is ILI.
- All the Judgments must be sent as DOCX file. The title of the file must be
in the following format TEAM CODE.
DECISION:
Decision of the jury shall be final and binding. Decision of the Organizing Committee shall be binding in interpretation of any rules or for any query or otherwise. Details of the Jury members are not disclosed to maintain the confidentiality of the event. No marksheets or softcopies of the winners will be shared with the participants.

An electronic copy of the Certificate of Participation will be emailed to all the registered participants after the successful declaration of the official result.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Only breakfast and dinner included in the stay and you need to bear the other expenses at your own cost and you need to inform us within 5 days after the date of declaration of the result of your arrival in Shimla and if not informed within 5 days, then this prize will be cancelled and valid for 2 months only from the date of declaration of the Results.
Hard copy of “Certificate of Merit”, will be provided to the 1st and 2nd winner. Publication of articles in the Law Audience Journal or in Joint Jurist Journal will have to sign a Copyright Agreement with the Journal.
